OVERCOMING

THE DARKEST HOUR

By Rev. Keith Holladay

In May of this year, I faced the darkest hour of my life. In my worst nightmare I never dreamed I would come to such a dark hour, but I did. I became so weak from the battle we were facing, I felt as if I didn’t have the strength to draw my next breath, much less take a “step” of faith. It’s good to know the mechanics of faith, but when you’re facing a dark hour as I was, the “steps” really don’t matter.

As far as the battle is concerned, I choose to not share any gory details as I don’t want to give any glory to the devil. He is really irrelevant anyway. The only one I want to focus on is Jesus and what He’s done in our hearts.

I knew I needed strength and I knew how to get it. I had to enter into worship. Neh. 8:10 says, “...the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Ps 16:11 says, “...in His presence is fullness of joy....” BUT, it felt as if I didn’t have the strength to even worship. I decided I would have to go back to bed, and get back up again. I laid down with a boom box at my head, playing my newest CD titled, “Face To Face”. For an hour and a half I let it play as I took the time to turn my eyes toward Jesus. I found that I had to make a conscious effort to keep my eyes on Him if I were going to pass over to the other side.
As a matter of fact, since May 9th of this year, I’ve been getting up early in the morning before anyone else to make sure I have my quality time with God. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to keep my focus in the heat of the battle.

If you’re facing a situation that seems impossible, I have good news for you. YOU CAN OVERCOME! YOU CAN MAKE IT OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE!! AND HERE’S HOW YOU’RE GOING TO DO IT.

You must come to the realization that only two things matter in life. 1) Your personal relationship with God. 2) Your family. Everything else in life is simply icing on the cake.

Heb 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Everything we have in life must come as a reward of us diligently seeking Him. If we’re going to make it through the battle, the victory must come as a reward of diligently seeking Him. If we’re going to take our healing, it must come as a reward of diligently seeking Him. If we’re going to walk in prosperity, it must come as a reward of diligently seeking Him. If we’re going to become debt free, it must come as a reward of diligently seeking Him.

Our careers, ministry, job, stuff, health..., all of it must come as a reward of diligently seeking Him!!
I did a word study on John 15:7 and found that to “abide in Him”, means to remain in a place of expectancy. “His word abiding in you” means when you press into Him and find that place of expectancy, He will speak a “RHEMA” word to you, for that situation at that time. You will then speak only that word by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost and it WILL COME TO PASS!! In actual fact, if He has to create it, He will!

Have you ever heard someone refer to a battle they went through that almost took them out, and they said they were so glad they went through it? I’ve heard that more than once and, quite honestly, thought they were out of their minds. Now that I’ve been through the greatest battle I’ve ever faced, I understand what they were saying.

It wasn’t the battle itself they were so excited about, but what God did on the inside of them as a result of turning to Him that was priceless.
After coming through victoriously, I can tell you from experience that God is faithful to His word, and He watches over it to perform it.

Let me encourage you now to make time DAILY to spend in the word, prayer and worship. It’s wonderful that we have so many churches that preach the word and lay hands on people, but if God is going to perfect what He’s doing in you, it will come out of the time you take to find that place of expectancy.

Whatever you do, don’t quit! Gal 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

I promise you, the light at the end of the tunnel is not a freight train, and it won’t run you over and kill you. You will make it, IF you diligently seek Him daily.
