Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you,
That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of
judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be
condemned. Here
we have from the lips of Jesus a most astounding statement. If words mean anything, Jesus
just said that our own words would be used to judge us. If I could say it another way, I
would say that our words will be used to create or destroy our destiny. That makes
it pretty serious, doesnt it? Lets read it again. ...every idle word
that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy
words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. You
know, I think its interesting that in this particular passage the emphasis
isnt necessarily on God or the Will of God or even the Power of God, but the
emphasis is on us and the words that we choose to let come out of our mouths. You
notice I said the words that WE CHOOSE to let come out of our mouths. Yes, you have a
choice. You dont have to say certain words. You can choose TO SAY them or you can
choose NOT TO SAY them. Did
you ever notice that in all the creation of God, mankind is the only creature with the
privilege of selecting and speaking words? On television, you may have seen some monkeys
being taught to use sign language. Now, those monkeys dont have any idea of the
power of words, and are incapable of understanding them. But, you and I are capable of
understanding words. Thats because we are made in the image and likeness of God. With
that in mind, lets look at Jesus statement again. ...by thy
words... Notice that its not the words of your mom or dad, or even your
pastor. Now, let me ask you a question: What have you been saying? Do you say things like,
I dont know what to do?. Maybe you say something like this: I
always triumph!. Well beloved, I need to tell you that whichever one you may be
saying on a continual basis will come to pass in your life. Notice
again, Jesus said that ...by your words you would be justified, and
by your words you are also condemned. In
Mark 11:23, Jesus was talking with His disciples about this very same thing. He said to
them, in vs. 23: For verily I say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this
mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his
heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall
have whatsoever he saith. Two
words in this passage stand out to me. One is, whosoever, and the other
is, whatsoever. Well, I qualify as a whosoever, and
I have a lot of occasions to have whatsoever. I know that this may
not be correct grammar, but the Bible says it very plainly. Jesus
said, in effect, that anyone anywhere will have anything they say if they will say it, and
not doubt in their heart, but believe what they say will come to pass. I consider Mark
11:23 as one of the most illuminating passages in the Bible concerning the authority
mankind has in the earth realm. Imagine
now, whatever you say coming to pass. Now, I must share a very astounding fact with you
beloved: What you say has been coming to pass for you your entire life. You are
sitting, right now, in the middle of what you have been saying. The
problem has been that we have not known this scripture and others like it concerning the
power of words. Therefore, we let the enemy of our souls (Satan) and his cohorts (demons)
trick us into saying things that work against us. Things like, I think Im
catching a cold, or whatever is of doubt and unbelief and generally corresponds with
the worlds system. Why
not take Gods Word and say it? You can choose, you know. Choose to speak the Word
instead of the problem. Choose to speak health instead of sickness. Choose to speak
prosperity instead of bankruptcy. YOU CHOOSE.
You see, God has already made His choice.
