THAT’S RIDICULOUS

By Nita Regich

I enjoy  jogging in the park; in fact, I have designated the park as my   “prayer closet” during the nice weather.   It is one of the places where I feel the presence of God strongly as I look around and see His marvelous works.

The trees and the animals reflect God’s loving handiwork because they show how He carefully designed them.  The squirrels are built to climb trees quickly, the deer change colors to keep them safe, the trees change their leaves and shed them in a timely manner and the ducks move in teams as they search for food and water.

One morning, after a heavy overnight rain, I was jogging in the park.   Puddles of water had formed along the sides of the road and in the fields and the streets were very wet.  As I ran, I looked ahead and saw a duck swimming in one of the puddles and suddenly the duck dipped its head into the water.  Now, I am not a fast jogger, so as I moved toward the duck, I noticed its head was still in the water and it seemed like minutes had passed.  Then, the thought flashed through my mind, “Is that duck drowning?”  Of course, I immediately started to laugh because that was a ridiculous thought.

Ducks don’t drown!  In fact, ducks take to water, or so it’s said.  As I laughed, the Holy Spirits quickened the following thought to me, “it’s even more ridiculous to think that God would not keep His Word.”

My spirit experienced pure excitement at what I heard and at the same time I recognized the opportunity to repent for the sin of doubt.   The more I pondered over those words, I realized how ridiculous it was to doubt God.

Think about it.  We are talking about God, the omnipotent all-powerful God, who created the heavens and earth.   He is the God who parted the Red Sea for the Israelites.   He is the One who sent Jesus to purchase our salvation and called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.  He has said that He watches over His word to perform it for us.  He has even made plans of success for us.  And, He has promised that He would never leave or forsake us.  Yet, sometimes we find ourselves not believing Him when we face situations in our lives.

If I had asked you if a duck could drown, you would have probably laughed at the idea.  How can we be so sure about a duck and water that God created and so unsure about the Creator God?

If we are born again, when situations occur that are contrary to what the Word says, our response should be, “that’s ridiculous!”  It is ridiculous to think that you won’t have your healing, it is ridiculous to think that your needs will go unmet, it is ridiculous for a tither to think the windows or heaven will not open with blessings, it is ridiculous, yes that’s ridiculous!

What is going on in your life right now?  What challenges are you facing?  What has God said about it?  It’s ridiculous to believe anything contrary to what He has said.

I believe that word that the Holy Spirit spoke to me applies to the body of Christ.  It’s time that we really believe God and trust Him.  After all, no one held a gun to God’s head and made Him promise us anything.  He chose to be our God and He chose us to be His people.    So let’s be in one accord and say, “that’s ridiculous” to anything that is contrary to what God said.
