Healing Is For Today!
In Jesus' earthly ministry, He never refused to heal anyone who came to Him for healing. For example: lepers, the ruler of the synagogue who asked for healing for his daughter, the nobleman who asked for healing for his son, the centurion who asked for healing for his servant, the woman with the issue of blood, the man with the palsy who was let down through the roof by his four friends, the Syrophoenician woman who requested healing for her daughter, blind men, the father of the boy with a demon, the masses, and on and on. Jesus even initiated healings because of His great love and compassion for people. For example: the woman in the synagogue with a spirit of infirmity who had been bowed down for eighteen years, the man in the synagogue with the withered hand, the man at the pool of Bethesda, the boy born blind. Jesus even stopped a funeral procession in Nain and raised from the dead the son of a widow, her only son. John 21:25 "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." (KJV) This scriptural passage makes it very clear that the accounts of Jesus' ministry recorded in the Bible describe only a small portion of His entire ministry. For approximately three and one-half years, Jesus lived a lifestyle of healing, making whole and setting free. We can't begin to imagine all the good things He did during His earthly ministry. Notice, I said "His earthly ministry." Jesus' ministry is still going on. Some people say that healing is not for today. That's bad news. The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ! The Word of God says: Heb 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." (KJV) Mal 3:6 "For I am the LORD, I change not; . . . ." (KJV) Rom 2:11 "For there is no respect of persons with God." (KJV) Rom 2:11 "For God does not show favoritism." (NIV) That means that Jesus is still doing the same things now that He was doing then! GOOD NEWS! Jesus attached a great deal of importance to healing the sick. Luke 13:10-17 "And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? (v.16) And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him." (KJV) Isn't that something? Jesus actually interrupted His sermon to heal her NOW! This woman had not asked Jesus for healing nor did anyone else ask Him to heal her. He initiated that healing. He stopped teaching and healed this woman. Healing must have been very important to Him. Notice verse 16, Jesus indicated that this woman's sickened condition came about because Satan had bound her with it. Her sickness was a bondage from Satan! Acts 10:38 "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." (KJV) The best way to interpret the Bible is to let Scripture interpret Scripture. Here we find in the book of Acts that Peter refers to sickness as an oppression of the devil. Yes, sickness is an oppression of the devil! Sickness is not God's idea, it never has been and it never will be. Now, I know that I have just stepped on the religious toes of some people but, here it is, in the Word of God. Sickness is an oppression of the devil and that's not how God intended His children to live. John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (KJV) Satan is the thief and he has come to steal your goods, including your healing and your health; to kill you; and to destroy you. Sickness is a manifestation of death in the body. Healing and health is a manifestation of life. Jesus came to give you life. This Biblical evidence leads to the conclusion that it is God's will for all His people to be healed and walk in health. 3 Jn 2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." (KJV) Jesus . . . "went about doing" a whole lot of "good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; FOR GOD WAS WITH HIM." If God was with Him while He was "doing good", obviously God was a partner in and consenting to all that was being done. If God did not originate the healings, He certainly was supportive of them so it must have been His Will. He would not have gone along with the program if it were not His Will. Jesus said: John 5:30 "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me." (KJV) Since it's God's Will for you to be healed and walk in health, what's stopping you? RISE AND BE HEALED!
